My go-to skincare routine for breakouts

Summer is in full force, and with that comes flowy dresses, trusty flip-flops and… breakouts? The summer season is great (helloooooooo beach!), but the humidity and overall hotness it brings can wreak havoc on my skin. Being naturally acne-prone doesn’t help matters, either.

Since I know I’m not the only gal out there wanting to avoid having to bury my head in the sand to hide breakouts this summer, I decided to share my go-to skincare regimen to keep those pesky pimples at bay so you can worry about other things this season, like getting that golden, glowy tan you’ve been waiting for all year.

Skin Deep Salicylic Cleanser. First thing’s first: You need a solid cleanser to get you clean and clear. I love this salicylic cleanser from Skin Deep. It’s great for combo/oily skin and isn’t too harsh so it won’t leave you feeling dry or flaky. It cleans deep into the skin and rids your face of any bacteria to let your skin breathe. Plus, the salicylic acid fights breakouts and helps to prevent new ones from popping up.

I use this once a day to avoid over-medicating my skin. Yes, that’s a thing! Through trial and error I have found that the more “medicated” products you put on your skin, the dryer and sometimes more irritated it can become. Choosing high-quality products and using them only once or twice a day is key.

Glossier Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector. Glossier is an up-and-coming skincare brand and I’m loving their “solution” exfoliating skin perfector. It has all the right ingredients to make the perfect potion for smoothing, clearing, and improving your skin texture. With the powerhouses’ AHA, BHA, and PHA, combined with salicylic acid, you can say hello to fresh, clear skin in no time.

I use this at night after cleansing. You just push a cotton wipe down on the top, saturate, and wipe all over face. Give it a few minutes to soak into your skin before applying anything else.

Rejuveniqe oil. Um, let me start out by saying that this stuff is BAE. With 11 essential oils and the power to mimic your skin’s own natural oils, Rejuveniqe can solve just about any skin problem. With 11+ unique molecular ingredients that include vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids, your skin’s wish is this oil’s command.

I use it to replenish my skin’s hydration, prevent breakouts, and keep my face from getting to oily. Sounds counterintuitive, right? But because this mimics your skin’s natural oils, it actually prevents your skin from producing too much oil. I don’t really understand how all of this scientific-y stuff goes, I just know this stuff works.

I use this morning and night all over my face. One or two drops go a long way! You can also use a drop in your foundation for a dewy glow.

Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment. A good spot treatment is essential to spotting those pimples from getting out of hand and to help them heal faster. This is one of my favs thanks to it’s power-packed ingredients. 5% colloidal sulfur, 4% glycolic acid, aloe vera, and vitamins C, E, and B5 make this little baby a force that your pimples do not want to reckon with.

Dot it on the affected area (aka your zit) once or twice a day until the said zit is gone. Voila!

Rodan + Fields Soothe Sensitive Skin Treatment. Last but most certainly not least, we all need a kickass moisturizer that isn’t too heavy/thick this summer. The Rodan + Fields Soothe moisturizer is AMAZEBALLS and will help get rid of any redness or irritation. Plus, the lotion has a slight sheen that gets you glowed up el naturel. What more could you ask for from a moisturizer?

I use this in the morning after the Rejuveniqe has soaked in.

Everything written in this post is my own opinion, and all products I have used for a month or longer. I have sensitive, breakout-prone skin that likes to party in the summer, and these products are what help keep my face clear(er) and me confident.

**I would not advise purchasing these products via Amazon (sowwy). I’ve tried and failed miserably, as most skincare products sold through third parties are either fake or expired.

What skincare products are you loving you this summer?

XO
